Like many students, Kodi Campbell balanced work (at Pearl Dragon) and school and also managed to be involved in theater and athletics during her career at MPHS. She will be attending Northern Arizona University in the fall to study anthropology and archaeology. All the best to you in your new adventures, Kodi!
Q: What High School do you attend?
Please tell us a little bit about your family. I live with my mom Becky Allison, and our five pets. Two dogs named Charlie and Chuck. Three cats named Moose, Squirrel and Cougar.
Please tell us about your current plans after high school and what inspired you to choose this path? I am planning on going to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. I will be majoring in Anthropology with an emphasis in archaeology.
Q: What are couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: I love Pearl Dragon, without a doubt I love the egg drop soup. It’s also my workplace so I get to try everything on their menu.
Q: What was your favorite class in high school?
A: AP Environmental with Mr. Crane. I am learning a lot about our ecosystems and pollution and how to save our planet.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows? What are you binge-watching right now?
A: My absolute favorite movie Spaceballs by Mel Brooks. TV shows are Bones, Criminal Minds, and currently re-watching Bones on a binge with my mom.
Q: What is your favorite memory from high school?
A: When my mom gave me her old letterman’s jacket for Christmas my sophomore year. It was her father’s before her. It’s about 50 years old and my most prized possession!
Q: What is your go-to band or favorite music when you can’t decide what to listen to?
A: I love Broadway show tunes: Hadestown, Kinky Boots, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, etc. Other than that I love all other genres, like K-pop, classic rock, punk rock, and pretty much anything else.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: My mom.
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: Tim Curry, and I would take him to Pearl Dragon. He is my most favorite actor and I basically idolize him. His characters are always so developed and perfect, it is one reason why I had wanted to be an actress when I was younger.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
A: I am pretty much related to most of the county through the Acords.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: Hopefully working in a museum, or traveling abroad to work on excavation sites.
Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?
A: I miss my job, I love my bosses and my coworkers and it’s really hard to not be around them.
Q: If you could go back and make one change from your school career what would it be?
A: I would work a lot harder to keep my grades up and try to be a better student.
Q: What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?
A: Go out to eat at my favorite restaurant with my mom.
